  	Betty's Story Portage, entered into a new life April 20, 2017, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. Born May 22, 1938, the daughter of Harry A. and Alberta F. (Helsel) Cann. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Kenneth (Barbara) McMonegal, Jack (Alice) McMonigal; and niece, Sandy McMonigal. Survived by Janet (Harry) Kuni, Karen (Rob) Eggleston, Billy (Gerry) McMonigal, Donald McMonegal, the Ritchey Family, great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews, and close friends Joey Derrick and Betsy Hartman. Betty was a member of First Lutheran Church, Portage Area Historical Society and the Portage Library and in her younger years she dedicated her time and energy on various committees and attending meetings promoting events in Portage. She was a graduate of Clarion University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and Duquesne University where she received a Masters in Library Science. She retired from Chestnut Ridge School District with many years of service. A special thank you to the young ladies who provided great care as well as much laughter and joy over many days in the past year and to the many friends and neighbors who also showed Aunt Betty care and kindness. Friends received from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23 at First Lutheran Church. Interment Prospect Cemetery, Portage the following day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Historical Society, Portage Library, or First Lutheran Church. Family is being served by Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage.
